Ateneo Women Host International Justice Forum
U.S. Amb-at-Large on War Crimes Issues to Speak
In 2010, The Women of Ateneo was honored to host a landmark lecture on “The Legacy of International Courts and Tribunals”, by one of its founding members, Ms. Mayee Bringas-Warren, (of Ateneo de Manila, College Class of 1977.) Ms. Warren is currently Chief of Legal Operations with the Office of the Prosecutor in the Special Court of Sierra Leone (Freetown and The Hague) and for nearly a decade has served in similar capacities with the International Criminal Court (The Hague) and the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (Arusha).
This year, The Women of the Ateneo is again privileged to host a second forum on international justice.
The 2011 forum, led by the U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues, The Honorable Stephen J. Rapp, will focus on the riveting question “Where Can the Victims of Atrocities Find Justice?”
It will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Hexagon Lounge, Fourth Floor, RCBC Plaza, Ayala Avenue corner Senator Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City, Metro Manila. Registration begins at 1.30 P.M.
Ambassador Stephen J. Rapp will speak about “international justice and the need for accountability to establish lasting peace and to vindicate the rights and experiences of victims.”
